Multi-Year Accessibility Plan (2022 – 2026)
This Multi-Year Accessibility Plan, spanning from 2022-2026 outlines the policies and actions being implemented by the Taube Museum of Art (TMA) to continue improving access to visitors, staff, and volunteers with disabilities, in compliance with the standards and guidelines set forth by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

Access Policy
The Taube Museum of Art is committed to providing equal access and reasonable accommodations for individuals with disabilities. The Taube’s immediate goal is the readily achievable integration of individuals with disabilities into it’s ongoing programs. The organization will continue to plan for improved access to public events, employment, and facilities and to increase awareness of access issues and practices among staff, board members, and participants.

Nondiscrimination Policy
The Taube Museum of Art prohibits discrimination against any employee, applicant for employment, volunteer, or program participant because of race, color, national or ethnic origin, age, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, veteran status, or any other characteristic protected under applicable federal, state, or local law. All personnel responsible for the development and implementation of the organization’s activities are charged to support this effort and to respond promptly and appropriately to any concerns brought to their attention.

Past Achievements to Remove and Prevent Barriers
• The TMA has an accessible entrance into the facility with motorized doors and clear signage that leads to a lift. The lift can access the upper and lower galleries. Currently, our lift is out of service. It requires a full replacement. We are seeking a company that can install a new lift in our area, please reach out to us at taube@srt.com if you have any suggestions.
• The upper gallery has a single unisex, wheelchair accessible bathroom. On the lower level there is a men’s and women’s restroom each with wheelchair accessible stalls.
• The TMA has begun modifying printed materials to follow ADA guidelines, including larger format print on wall signage and higher contrast between text and the background.
• The TMA is free and open to the public, and provides several free events a month to alleviate financial barriers to our museum.

Future ADA Planning

I. Access Planning and Resources
a. The TMA will use ADA guidelines and resources to develop our future accessibility planning. It will be the role of the Executive Director to seek accessibility training on disability etiquette, awareness, and other issues related to the provision of service to people with disabilities and then provide that information to staff, board, and volunteers.
b. A staff member, volunteer, or program participant may request accommodations to participate equally via phone, email, written, or verbal request.

II. Physical and Architectural Access
a. Short -Term Goals (3-18 months)
• Lift Repair - After the dissolution of the department that previously performed repairs and yearly maintenance on our lift, the TMA has sought to find a new, reliable company to provide yearly maintenance and prompt service repairs when necessary.
• Plan all exhibitions and events with enough room for mobility aid and wheelchair users to access everything.
• Maintain the Historical Gallery, located on the main floor, to allow ease of access to single stall, unisex, wheelchair accessible bathroom. This includes keeping the doors leading to the gallery open, as they are not motorized.
b. Long-Term Goals (18-36+ Months)
• Currently, our third-floor residency space is only accessible via stairs. Our long-term goal is to establish a budget and funding source to build lift access to the space and related events.

III. Accessible Communications and Outreach
a. Short-Term Goals (3-18 months)
• Update website to include accessibility plan, current accessible areas in the museum, and nondiscrimination policy. This includes clearly communicating accessibility barriers in the museum. These are to be updated regularly as the TMA continues to enact portions of the accessibility plan.
• Conduct annual outreach to our individual patrons and groups of/serving disability communities to determine needs that have yet to be met by the museum. This feedback will be used to update our accessibility plan regularly.
• Utilize social media applications to generate text descriptions of posts and captioning on audio posts.

IV. Accessible Programs and Services
a. Short-Term Goals (3-18 months)
• Begin planning for and provide programming specifically designed to serve people with disabilities, including intentionally producing/presenting the work of people with disabilities. Provide opportunities in which people with disabilities are fully integrated into mainstream activities as both creators and consumers. For example, the creation of tactile based exhibitions.
• The TMA will make tactile maps available for each floor level and be displayed in an easily accessible area for use.
